Newsletter Wizard

To create a newsletter, log in to hr.blr.com and select the ‘tools’ tab and then ‘Newsletter Wizard’

  1. You can either select one of the premade templates that already include content that you can modify, or select a blank template by using the link at the bottom of the page.
  2. If you choose a pre-made template and wish to modify it, click on the ‘copy’ link to the right of the newsletter you want to use. The new copy will now appear in your ‘My Newsletters’ tab. Click on the ‘Edit’ link to make your changes.
  3. Regions
    1. The newsletter is divided into sections called ‘regions’ that can be edited by clicking on the ‘edit’ link at the top right of each region. There are two types of regions, image and text. The regions cannot be changed from text to image or vice versa.

      i.      Regions 1 & 6: Text - These regions are designed for roughly 160 words or less at the default font size. More text than this will overlap with the other regions and will be illegible.

      ii.      Regions 2 & 7: Image – These regions are designed for a .jpg or .gif image 250 pixels wide by 250 pixels high. An image with different dimensions will be distorted and appear blurry. To upload your own image, click on ‘edit’ then click the ‘browse’ button and select the image you have prepared. Next, click ‘upload’, and your image will now appear in region 2.

      iii.      Region 3: Image – This region is similar to region 2, but was designed for a banner image that is 480 pixels wide by 100 pixels high.

      iv.      Region 4: Text – This region is designed for a title and will only hold a small amount of text.

      v.      Region 5: Text – This region is designed for roughly 400 words or less at the default font size. More text than this will overlap with the other regions and will be illegible.

      vi.      Regions 8 & 9: Text – These regions are designed for roughly 200 words or less at the default font size. More text than this will overlap with the other regions and will be illegible.

      vii.      Up to two additional pages can be added by clicking on the ‘Add Page’ button at the bottom of the screen. These pages will have two sections are designed for roughly 380 words or less each at the default font size. More text than this will overlap with the other regions and will be illegible.

    Make a PDF – To make a PDF, click the ‘Create PDF’ button at the top right of the screen. When the PDF appears in your browser, select ‘file’ from your browser menu and select ‘save as’ and save the file to your computer.
